Credit card babies.
Went to a concert yesterday. It was amazing! The whole evening was ridiculous. Opening band was We Are the World. It was a mix of lasers, crazy interpretive dance, and screaming. It was so bizarre. The only way I know how to describe their clothing is "Arabian ninjas". If you imagine any Arab in a charcoal and black robe, that's what they looked like. With ninja masks. The band had four members: a singer, two back up vocalists and dancers, and a drummer. The set was more of a show than a musical performance. It was crazy. The music was really dark and Kevin said it was probably his favorite band of the night.
Next up was the group MEN. The video above is one of five songs they played. This group was my favorite of the night. Their performance was so awesome. They had the most ridiculous outfits of the night. This particular band had three members. The lead singer, JD Samson, is also a member of Le Tigre. Turns out the singer is a girl. Lesbanin. She had a mustache though which led me to believe the singer was a guy. I guess he/she takes testosterone pills? Anyways, the lead singer was wearing some kind of weird oversized shirt that was obviously homemade. She drew windows on it to look like a building and one of the windows were on fire. She took it off later and wore a shirt that said "SEMEN YA" all over it. Also homemade. The guitarist was wearing just a black leather vest as a top that was two sizes too small. He was wearing tight red pants on the bottom. But most unique outfit goes to the other guitarist. She wore a purple unitard with chain mail on her head. That's it. It was so ridiculous. The music was great and the show was awesome. Great lead in for the headlining band Gossip.
Gossip was just average. Nothing too special. To be fair the lead singer was sick and I'm almost positive she lost her voice after this performance. The lead singer, Beth Ditto, was a lot larger than I had anticipated. Probably 250+ lbs. Beth was hilarious though. She talked to the crowd between songs and grabbed a girls shirt and wore it for the next few songs. After she put it on she said "when you get this back it'll smell like ham." She had some jokes. I think I want to start going to more concerts.

It's a thug story.
It's 8:03AM and I've been up for almost two hours now. Had trouble sleeping last night and then I heard my mom's cell phone go off just as I was about to fall asleep. Half awake, I thought I heard her give the phone to my dad saying it was a call for him. Then a few minutes later I heard my mom walking down the stairs and opening the front door to leave. I looked out the window and sure enough, she was walking to her car fully dressed. I wasn't sure where she was going and my phone was too far. For no particular reason, I thought it was 1:40. I didn't look at a clock but that's what time I thought it was. I dozed off for what felt like a few hours and woke up when she came home through the front door. By that time, the sun was coming up and I went downstairs to ask her where she had gone for so long. She said she went to McDonald's to get breakfast. Apparently the call was a wrong number and she didn't pass the phone to my dad, she left the house around 7 to get breakfast, and I was wrong about everything. And now I'm tired but can't fall back asleep.
My brother came home from Davis on Thursday and he bought the Perfect Push Up thing. I tried a few out of boredom and curiosity. It feels cheap and flimsy. If I was as buff as the guy on the box, the handles would probably collapse under me. I don't think it works that well. I've been trying to get back into the rhythm of working out again. Everyday after work, I do a bunch of lifting for about 1.5 hours. Of course, I stretch out my reps because I'm always watching TV. Hopefully I'll trim down a bit soon. My mom keeps calling me a fatass. The more I seem to do, the more I feel my body is turning into the same body type as Chuck Liddell. He has a gut and he looks fat all the time until he flexes and you can see all the lines. That's where I'm at right now. This is, of course, before I eat.
Taylor Tickets are on sale soon. Don't really understand the breakdown of when tickets go on sale but the latest will be October 30. I joined the T Sweezy website just to see if I could get the code. I also have an AmEx card so probably will try that too. No idea how many tickets I'm going to get but so far I think the group going will be me, Anjuli, My, Ya, Erica, and maybe V and my sister if she's back. Ticket prices range from $25-59.50. I don't mind paying top dollar for great seats. Sixty dollars isn't that much anyways. Not for Taylor. Also not sure how many I'm buying (if I'm buying for people or separate). Probably best to get them together to guarantee seats together. I'll probably aim for 8. I can always sell them later. Everyone wants a piece of her.

No job. No car. No money.
^^Lily Allen wrote that song about her younger brother thinking he would be flattered. He was not. After he heard the song he took her laptop and threw it out the window. Official video is worth watching if you have time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRX57zprNdw
Lots of money issues in past weeks. Mom took $3,360 out of my bank account (I wrote her a check; she didn't steal it). Bought some clothes from Triumvir. Flannel and jacket. I didn't get charged for the flannel even though it was checked out and part of my basket. Hopefully I get that for free! It gets shipped on Friday. Last week I went to a store called Next at SFSC. When it first opened a few years ago, I bought two pairs of jeans at retail totaling more than $500. I felt guilty and returned one pair the next day. But the store policy states returns are only acceptable within 7 days (which it was of course) for store credit only. That was fine. But the store had no gift cards. My credit was written on a receipt. After years of neglecting my credit I decided to see if I could transfer it to a gift card to make it more official. The manager there got confused and we talked for about half an hour trying to come up with a solution. She said she'd ask around to see what she could do and asked me to come in sometime this week. I went this afternoon and she told me there was nothing she could do so I'm out $182. She did however offer me discounts on any future purchase. I just have to look for her. I'm assuming it's her employee discount which I also assume is at least 40% since most of these high end stores offer fat discounts to employees so they can flaunt their clothing. On a lighter note, when I went into the store a very cute looking black girl complimented me on my jeans. She thought there were Levi's and we chatted it up for a bit until the manager was available. It's nice to get compliments from strangers.
Yesterday, I had an epiphany. I need to start wearing jeans that fit, or I need to lose weight. When I got home yesterday and took off my jeans, I realized my jeans were so tight at the hips that I actually got a bruise. It's kind of embarrassing. But, I can't help it if tight jeans look so good. I guess that pair is no good anymore... Damn you calories!!! Exercise, I will see you soon. Chadwick let me know when you're ready to play some basketball.
Taylor Swift is coming to San Jose! Mark your calendars for April 11, 2009. I hope she gives me a birthday shout out.
Sharks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow. I predict a 3-2 or 3-1 victory.

^^The first verse is one of the sickest verses ever written in the history of rap. Slide show is stupid but there's no music video for it. Crystal castles is the shit. Demonoid is still down so most of the music I'll be posting is old stuff since I have nothing new to share.
Big day tomorrow. Lunch with My and Ya and Sai Jai Thai. I know it has a funny name but it... is... delicious. Hands down, best fried rice I've ever eaten in my entire life. Haven't been there for 2 or 3 years but I remember it being super delicious. Then dinner with V at a restaurant of my choice. Where to go? Golden arch? Nah...too classy for her. Probably slum it up at BK.
For the past week or so, every time Halloween is mentioned I have to remind myself that it's still 12 days away. I think because we all dressed up for Chad's birthday it feels like Halloween has already passed.
Sharks beat the Rangers and end their 7 game win streak. Sharks scored most goals in a game of the season ending it at 7-3 after trailing 0-2. Eight days left until NBA season begins. I need an HD TV in my room. Been looking for one at least 46". That should be big enough.

Dream a little dream.
Last night I had one of the most random dreams I can remember. It began with me and my mom shopping at Safeway and for some reason there was a Chinese barbecue area. My mom lined up to buy a roast duck and I looked behind the counter and saw a guy passed out with a zip loc bag of mushrooms in front of him. When I turned to look at the food, my mom had already started walking away. I followed her and within a few feet of walking she started to spasm uncontrollably and started flailing her limbs in every direction. When I asked her what the hell was wrong with her she said she stole the guy's mushrooms and ate it. She was having a majorly bad trip. Then Gary came out of no where and I forgot why but we started arguing. It escalated and we started swinging. I remember getting a few good licks in but I was completely overwhelmed and dominated by his strength (which is how I'd imagine a real fight with Gary would be). Then, as the fight ended, I started to walk away but Gary came up behind me and hugged me from behind and said "Gary Wu laab you..." It was weird. Next thing I know I'm trying to stop an altercation between two of my friends, both named Frances. Some other weird stuff happened and I went to meet up Andy. We walked around the streets and he asked if I wanted to go watch him in an eating competition. It was a competition at Subway where the eaters must eat a one foot open face sandwich (I have no idea why) as fast as possible. I told him I couldn't go since I had to prepare for the GRE exam (which is really true). Then I woke up.
Sharks win. Boring game. Clowe fought some jackass near the end of third which was pretty good. Vesce had his first NHL goal. Overall sloppy play though. Congratulations San Jose but your next matchup will probably be your most difficult of the season thus far.

Beep beep ribby ribby.
^^Looks so much like an Asian Tara Reid. Absolutely love her style.
Today was...interesting... Spent the first hour at work doing nothing. Just sat in my area and spaced out. Then there was a meeting where the team counted bags of cash. In the lab we keep 9 bags of cash for testing, each containing $1,064 of assorted notes. We made some stupid jokes and suggestions and I said someone should bring out a deck of cards and we should spend the day playing poker. There were some other shenanigans but I'll continue. We had a team lunch at Sultan Indian Buffet. I respectfully declined since I had already scheduled a lunch with My. But, that lunch was rescheduled so I spent much of the morning dodging questions about why I wasn't going to the lunch. Lies on top of lies on top of lies. It gets hard to keep track of lies sometimes.
After the lunch I met up with the team to go to the Academy of Sciences. Boy was that a disapointment. If you haven't gone, the only thing worth seeing is the planetarium. The people working there are rude too. During the planetarium show, one of the employees leads off the show with some banter. During that time, a little girl behind me started crying. Probably was no more than 1 year old. Another employee walked all the way up the stairs to confront the crying baby's parents and word for word said the following: "How old is your child? Didn't I tell you outside you couldn't watch the show with your child? You can't have kids crying in here. Didn't I tell you that outside? Why did you come in?" What made me feel worse was when I realized the family behind me barely understood a word of English. They were forced to leave. When we first got in we were told that if we wanted to leave early we could sit in the top two rows and leave so we don't disturb the others watching the show. My group only wanted to leave early to catch the last bug show. When we got up during the show to leave we were told to sit back down. We were berated with questions why we wanted to leave and told, not asked, to sit back down. Ridiculous. The museum was small. Definitely would not pay to get back in there. Not much to see. Not much to do.
Been watching some hilarious stand up lately. Don't remember this guy's name but he was a Mexican comedian and his bit was mostly about how he was Mexican but could not speak Spanish. He was saying that in high school he was embarrassed to be cheating off the Asian kid in Spanish class. Then he told a joke about how he's constantly asked to translate stuff to English. He said one time he was in a club and a girl asked him what the song was about. He answered "That guy is complaining about the price of gasolina." Hilarious. Stand up is my renewed drug.
Sharks tomorrow! Put the biscuit in the basket!

Dragula's simple song.
Very interesting day. Obama is in town and the building where I work was closed off (5th st.). No one could come in and no one could go out. Had to wait about 15 min before I could leave the building. My aunt who normally drives me home couldn't get her car out of the garage because they were blocking traffic so I took the bus home.
During work, about half of my coworkers went out to the lobby or the 5th floor to try and see if they could spot Obama. One of my coworkers, Gary, came back and said he saw him but could have been joking. Manny came in a few minutes after and mentioned something about Obama and Gary shouted out "Did you see him?! OBAMA!". Manny made the most ridiculous sad face and said "...nobama...". Definitely the funniest thing I heard today. I wish I could have seen him. Would've been something cool to say I've done...
Spent some time yesterday finding a way to get my hands on a radio so I could listen to the Sharks game today. Asked around and Chadwick had a radio he was willing to let me borrow. My mom also had one but it was not digital. It's embarrassing enough to be using a walkman, but using one with a dial makes me look way behind the times. Unfortunately, Chadman dropped it off at Andy's and I couldn't pick it up until this morning. Woke up Andy at 8:20 to pick it up. Turns out that it was pointless since the lab didn't have reception. Couldn't pick up a damn thing. Then I spent the first 30-45 minutes at work trying to find a work around to listen to the game. Lucky for me, there is a way and it goes as follows: Log off default lab account on lab computer, log back into the computer using personal account, remote desktop to personal workstation PC, stream live radio off the site. I guess I'll be doing this until our office moves. The game was so exciting and had so much energy. Listened to the first two periods and the third in the lobby while waiting for the cops to let us out of the building. By the way, Sharks lost.
Talking to Anjuli makes me want to watch 24 again. Do I have the time? Not this week... Maybe after Monday.

"I think I need a new town to leave this all behind..."
All old music but still great tracks. The official music videos can be found on youtube for these songs but can't be embedded because they have been disabled. That's why I'm just posting these generic ones. Emmy Rossum's video is definitely worth looking up. For those who don't know, she was the actress in Phantom of the Opera (movie). It's a shame the producers of her album chose to alter her voice so much. She has so much natural talent. Her album is very Imogen-esque.
Not much to say right now. Just enjoying the music. Boston sounds simple enough to learn how to play on piano but I can't seem to find my A/C adapter for my keyboard. Maybe when I have more time...

Hello Seattle. Hello weekend.
Been a slow week. Should pick up tomorrow. Birthday party and dinner planned. So unusual for me to have plans...
Still have no idea what pirate ware I'll be covered in. Hopefully I can figure something out by noon. So much errands to take care of. <<

About the title: I realized today that the majority of women don't enjoy sandwiches as much as men. I personally love sandwiches. But then again, I'm a guy. I talked to some people and the general consensus for women is that most don't mind it but would prefer something else. Ever since I started working, I get the craving for a sandwich and some soup for lunch.
On a lesser note. The sharks disappoint again...but what an exciting game. I'd like to say "solid effort" but it wasn't. PICK IT UP SHARKS!!! PUT THE BISCUIT IN THE BASKET!!!

MAYDAY! M'AIDEZ!
Plenty of goodies. For me that is. Made my Christmas wish list for myself and it goes as follows:
- Some kind of scooter. Vino? Vespa?
- SLR. Need to start researching soon.
- More interracial friends. Hah. Sad but also true.
- New laptop? Maybe...
- A DOG! Top picks are pug, husky/malamute/shiba inu/klee kai, or maybe a bulldog.

Another day, another adventure. Spent most of the day narrowing down which graduate schools I am eligible to apply to. Then I have to see which graduate schools would be stupid enough to accept me. I really wish every university would come together and create a universal user-friendly webpage. Got my eye on 14 schools right now and I'm only a third of the way through the list. And of those 14 schools, only three are in California. What does this mean? Road trip across the U.S.A.! Definitely need a change of scenery...
