My mother is a boss

Last week my cousin Jennifer came over to discuss seating for her wedding next weekend.  I sat down at the table with my family for dinner, something I never do unless we have company.  After the seating arrangements were settled, we began chatting about random things and eventually got to the topic of pregnancy.  Then, we all started asking my mother about her pregnancies, and that is when I found out how much of a boss my mom is.

It was nearing the end of term for my mother's pregnancy when her water broke.  She was pregnant with my sister and was not sure if it actually broke so she called her doctor.  He advised her to come to the hospital as a precaution.  She told him she had an important dinner to go to and could not go to the hospital.  The doctor then said, "Good.  I have a dinner too.  Come in first thing tomorrow morning."

Early the next morning, my mother went to the hospital.  The doctor said her water did in fact break.  She would be going into labor soon and he advised her to get admitted.  She replied, "I can't stay.  I have to go home and cook breakfast for my family and take my husband to work."  So she drives home and does just that.  She cooks breakfast for us and drove my father to work before returning to the hospital.  She drove herself and parked in the hospital parking lot.

My mother gave birth to my sister five hours later without the help of epidural or other drugs.  The next day, a nurse advised my mom to call someone to pick her up to take her home.  She said she had arranged for a pick-up but instead, took my new-born sister home in her own car.  Her excuse?  "I didn't want to leave my car in the parking lot."

Boss.

The rock and the diamond

Monday afternoon walking to lunch:

Doug: Holy crap look at that spider.  It's all white.  Must be an albinyo spider.

That's not a typo...

Last night:

Dad: You don't have class today?  It's Tuesday.
Me: I have classes on Thursdays now... I told you three times already!
Mama: There's not point of telling him.  It's like talking to a rock...
Me (to my mom): Yea... It's just like talking to you too.  Every time I ask what's for dinner you never give me a straight answer.  I guess there's two rocks in this family.
Mama: I'm not a rock! I AM A DIAMOND!

I need to start a Twitter for the crazy stuff my family says.

Limp

I went to the doctor's office yesterday for two reason:  I wanted to see if I could get diagnosed with ADHD so I could get some pills and to ask about getting vaccinated for HPV.  I came home and told my mama I went and the conversation went something like this:

Me: So I went to the doctor's today.
Mama: Why?  What do you have?
Me: Doctor-patient confidentiality!
Mama: Can't get an erection?

Ridiculous!  The things my mama says... She threatened me and said she would call and ask the doctor why I went.  If I told her I went to ask about being vaccinated for HPV she would think I am sleeping around.  Knowing her she would probably think it would be with guys too...

My mother

I was talking to my mother about earthquakes and disaster preparedness.  She said she wanted a flashlight for emergencies and I said that was not enough.  I went through the list of supplies the N.E.R.T. student manual suggested and then told her Anjuli was actually making a kit.  She asked me what was in it and I did not know at the time since she was still blogging it.  I told her I would let her know when Anjuli was done blogging about it.

After my mom got out of the shower I called her to my room to tell her the list and the conversation went something like this:

Me: Hey Ma, you wanted to know what was in Anjuli's kit right?  She posted it.

Ma:  I already know what's in it.  Alcohol and condoms.

Me: /Laugh

Ma: What?  The necessities!

I laughed so hard.  My mom says the craziest shit.

Until next time,

Time to kill

Been listening to Cheryl Cole a lot lately.

Just a quick blurb while I wait for my Ipod to charge.

Something made me think about being in a coma today.  I don't remember what it is, but I thought it would be a good idea to make some requests in case I die or become a vegetable.  That being said, I thought it would be easiest to make a video will.  But I don't have a webcam.  When I get a new laptop (with webcam), that will be my first project.  To be updated yearly.

I'm going to start off with a general video with my typical requests and progress to individual videos targeted toward the important people in my life.  A final farewell.  I thought about zipping all the videos into one file and uploading it to a private account and give access to three or four people.  Those people would probably be my mom, Andy, Jennifer, and maybe someone else.  I figure if anything were to happen to me, hopefully at least two of these people will be able to access my will.  Of course access would be prohibited until I actually pass.  Haven't worked out all the details.  Just a thought.

Hope I don't die.  If I do, I leave everything in my name to my mom.  If I become a vegetable, pull the cord after a year if I haven't made progress.  You have my permission.

Until next time,

Look both ways before crossing the street!

Ominous beginnings.

Lately I have been getting a feeling that some terrible things will happen soon.  Call it a hunch, gut feeling, or paranoia. Whatever it is, it's consuming my life.  I am not a believer of fortune-telling, astrology, or any of the pseudosciences, but I can't seem to shake this feeling.  Whatever is going to happen, I think it's going to happen soon.  Within the next three months or so.

Last night, I had a quasi-nightmare.  It started out with all of my friends hanging out at my house in the living room.  My parents storm in through the front door.  My mom is yelling at my dad and he has no reaction or response to anything she's saying.  I can already see that something terrible was happening.  My dad tells me he's quitting his job and my mom is stressing out about money.  My dad then says a bunch of things implicating he is also giving up on life.

He pulls Andy aside and lectures him for a while.  I wasn't close enough to hear the conversation, but I could see whatever my dad was saying was making Andy angry.  In a few seconds, Andy started swinging at my dad and it took everyone in the room to hold them back.

I couldn't deal with the situation so I left and walked around the neighborhood.  I ended up in a back alley somewhere.  It turned out to be a dead end so I turned around.  In doing so, my Gameboy inside my backpack flew out, crashing on the floor.  As I bent down to pick it up, I saw a hidden compartment outside of the house I was standing in front of.  I open the compartment to find a slew of video games.  Inside, I can see N64, SNES, and NES games of all kinds.  I take a quick scan to make sure no one is looking before I start to take some of them.  When I look up into the house, I see a little girl playing Wii (notice that all of the gaming systems in this dream are manufactured by Nintendo).  I try to sift through the games as fast as possible without her noticing, but I'm caught before I'm able to find anything worth taking.

As I ran back home, I began to feel the tension from the situation earlier.  When I get inside, I can still see that many of my friends are still hanging around, but most people had left.  I went to my room and found one of my lady friends in my bed sleeping, fully clothed.  When I look down, my shirt is missing.  Oh well.  I get into bed with her and pull the blankets back over us.  She tried to comfort me (nothing sexual).  We end up spooning.

Until next time,

How did my shirt disappear so fast?

Dreams of a functioning psychopath

Great song.  Legit track from Ke$ha's album, Animal.  I don't understand the reason why people don't respect her or her music.  She has an album that most likely has already gone at least platinum, she holds the record for highest downloaded record for a female artist (of all time), and she's only 22.  What have you done with your life that's so great?  Shut up then.

Last night I had a very strange dream.  Most of my dreams are.  As I explained to Gary this weekend, my mind is unlike any other.  I often identify myself as a functioning psychopath.  The thoughts in my mind are rarely expressed out loud, and that's what makes me functional in society.  If I were to actually do the things I'm thinking about, I probably wouldn't be alive today.  It's okay to think it as long as I don't do it.  Right?

So my dream is segmented in three pieces.  I woke up twice in the middle of the night from the cold since I decided to sleep pants-less and with only one blanket.  The dream began with me, Doug, and my mom in a hotel room.  Nothing special about the room.  Typical two queen beds in a room lit with slightly yellow bulbs.  I don't remember exactly what was going on but I do know that I was in a competition with my mom.  I cannot recall the stipulations but the events that follow were somehow the basis of our battle for supremacy.

As my mom lay in one bed, Doug was in the other.  I jumped on top of my mom and mounted her in a TOTALLY non-sexual way.  You'll understand in a second.  I grab this off the table between the beds.

Next thing I know, I jam it into my jugular and blood starts pouring out from my neck over my mom.  I then take the same tool and stab her once in the jugular.  But, for some reason, she doesn't start bleeding.  The blade of the scraper went through her neck but her neck was soft like Jell-O.  At that point I begin to panic because I'm losing a lot of blood.  I stab her neck multiple times until she starts bleeding but even then, there's not a lot of blood.  At that point, I look at Doug and I'm about to faint from the loss of blood.  I tell him to keep talking to me so I don't fall asleep.  Apparently, the competition between me and my mom was to see who could lose the most blood and stay awake.  Doug talks to me and I end up "winning" this round.  I eventually pass out after my mom.

Seems crazy right?  The words do no justice to the images that have been burned into my mind from this dream.  After that the rest of the dream will seem boring.

The next thing I remember is waking up (in the dream - as in waking up from passing out).  My neck is hideously scarred and scabs are all over my neck even though I'm still slightly bleeding still.  I find a first aid kit in the bathroom and wrap my neck multiple times over with gauze to the point where my neck has become stiff.  My mom, realizing I had "won" the competition, offers to take me to eat at a buffet.  The three of us walk through a long dark tunnel with the walls completely lined with old broken down washing machines and dryers.  A homeless guy runs past us to a washing machine and opens it up.  He pulls out a duffel bag and screams in excitement.  It was filled with all of his belongings which he had hidden there before he went to prison.  Don't really understand how I knew he just got out of prison but it was just one of those things you know in your dreams.

We get to the buffet and my family is already there.  We split up to get food and all of a sudden the setting changes from a buffet to a library and the cast of Community is sitting at the table across from me.  Jeff looks over to me and asks me for my notes.  I get up to hand it to him and when I turn back around, there's a girl sitting in the seat I just left.  My notes and books were thrown on the floor and she just stared at me like she didn't do anything.  Oh well.  I walk away and there's a table full of guns just like in Call of Duty.  It takes me a millisecond to decide that I want my seat back.  I wasn't going to ask nicely for it.  I get strapped and start walking back to my table.  The scene turns into 16-bit and I have to shoot two people to get to the seat.  In my radar  I see the first person I shot is not quite dead so I pull out my credit card which has a sliding top-half - almost like if my credit card were a Transformer.  I flip the top up and down really fast and the credit card fires a bullet right into the persons skull.  Yes.  My dream weapons are insane.

At this point I wake up again from my dream because of the cold.  The last segment is a very short one.

It starts out in a giant garage complex and a few friends and I are walking towards some other people.  As I walk closer, I see that it's a group of girls, one of whom I already know.  If I had to guess, this girl has been in one out of every ten dreams.  It's funny because I never think about her when I'm awake and I haven't seen her in probably three years and haven't talked to her for slightly longer.  As I walk toward the girls, she leans in and gives me a hug and kiss.  I realize she's my girlfriend and we walk off together out of the parking garage.  This was even weirder since I haven't thought about her in that way.  Somehow we end up in my grandma's house which turned out to be where we lived together.  And then I woke up for good.

The last part was more for me since no one else really knows what the hell I'm talking about.  It's just interesting to me that the same girl keeps showing up in my dreams when I hardly think about her when I'm awake.  And I'm sure the rest of my dreams has left my image tainted.  Don't worry.  I'm not really that crazy.  I would only kill you in my dreams.

To try and clear up some of the crazy, I will try to explain why I dreamed what I dreamed.  I spent most of Sunday cleaning the garage with my mom.  We threw out a lot of junk and moved a spare washing machine we have to the back of the garage.  This may have been where the tunnel of washing machines came into picture.  While cleaning my mom picked up a pirate sword left by someone after the pirate party.  She pointed it at me and made a threatening face and said "Alex..."  I found one of my old BB guns, a USP, and pointed it back at her and said "Mommy..."  We had a laugh and went back to cleaning.  Possibly where the first part of the dream came from.  The buffet is probably just cause I'm fat.  Call of Duty is obvious and recurring.  So, in conclusion, I am not crazy.  I am "colorful".

Until next time,

Stay out of my head.

New year, new problems.

Both good albums.  Nothing great.  Something that surprised me from both albums was how different the sounds were.  Each album was very eclectic in their own way, mixing styles of their classic rhythm and blues with a bit of rock, jazz, contemporary, and others.

During a meeting at work today, my team took about 15 minutes at the end of the meeting reflect on the year as its coming to an end.  Many had complaints saying it was a terrible year and that they can't wait for it to be over.  Maybe they don't realize the only thing that changes is the calendar.  If your life sucks, it's going to suck until you make it better yourself.  It's hard to imagine that the simple act changing the calendar year will change the future or your "luck".  Blame your life on your own decisions and faults.  I sure do.  Some things are out of your control though.  In those cases, you just have to find the good in the bad and move on.  Easier said than done. Something I'm having trouble with now.

I'm in a bitter mood.  And who do I blame?  Myself of course.  Who else is responsible for my emotions?  No one.  Got confronted for not doing much at work today, got yelled at for listening to my music too loud at home, and might be getting sick.  On the upside, I actually proved to my boss I was working and had gotten a lot done.

Based on the current itinerary, I am not looking forward to the Vegas trip with my family this Friday.  Supposed to be a four day trip.  Leaving on Christmas morning and should be back Monday morning.  But we're driving, so there goes 20+ hours depending on traffic.  We really have two full days and that's about it.  My family is going to watch the Lion King at  Mandalay Bay, but I chose not to go since I've already seen it so I'll probably be at some table gambling.   Shouldn't complain too much though.  I know my mom really enjoys the time we spend together as a family so I'm going to try and make the best out of it.  It's the least I can do for her.  Doing the Asian thing and going to Aria to look around at the new place and then try out their buffet.  We'll see how it goes...

Until next time,

It's a thug story.

It's 8:03AM and I've been up for almost two hours now.  Had trouble sleeping last night and then I heard my mom's cell phone go off just as I was about to fall asleep.  Half awake, I thought I heard her give the phone to my dad saying it was a call for him.  Then a few minutes later I heard my mom walking down the stairs and opening the front door to leave.  I looked out the window and sure enough, she was walking to her car fully dressed.  I wasn't sure where she was going and my phone was too far.  For no particular reason, I thought it was 1:40.  I didn't look at a clock but that's what time I thought it was.  I dozed off for what felt like a few hours and woke up when she came home through the front door.  By that time, the sun was coming up and I went downstairs to ask her where she had gone for so long.  She said she went to McDonald's to get breakfast.  Apparently the call was a wrong number and she didn't pass the phone to my dad, she left the house around 7 to get breakfast, and I was wrong about everything.  And now I'm tired but can't fall back asleep.

My brother came home from Davis on Thursday and he bought the Perfect Push Up thing.  I tried a few out of boredom and curiosity.  It feels cheap and flimsy.  If I was as buff as the guy on the box, the handles would probably collapse under me.  I don't think it works that well.  I've been trying to get back into the rhythm of working out again.  Everyday after work, I do a bunch of lifting for about 1.5 hours.  Of course, I stretch out my reps because I'm always watching TV.  Hopefully I'll trim down a bit soon.  My mom keeps calling me a fatass.  The more I seem to do, the more I feel my body is turning into the same body type as Chuck Liddell.  He has a gut and he looks fat all the time until he flexes and you can see all the lines.  That's where I'm at right now.  This is, of course, before I eat.

Taylor Tickets are on sale soon.  Don't really understand the breakdown of when tickets go on sale but the latest will be October 30.  I joined the T Sweezy website just to see if I could get the code.  I also have an AmEx card so probably will try that too.  No idea how many tickets I'm going to get but so far I think the group going will be me, Anjuli, My, Ya, Erica, and maybe V and my sister if she's back.  Ticket prices range from $25-59.50.  I don't mind paying top dollar for great seats.  Sixty dollars isn't that much anyways.  Not for Taylor.  Also not sure how many I'm buying (if I'm buying for people or separate).  Probably best to get them together to guarantee seats together.  I'll probably aim for 8.  I can always sell them later.  Everyone wants a piece of her.

Dream a little dream.

Last night I had one of the most random dreams I can remember.  It began with me and my mom shopping at Safeway and for some reason there was a Chinese barbecue area.  My mom lined up to buy a roast duck and I looked behind the counter and saw a guy passed out with a zip loc bag of mushrooms in front of him.  When I turned to look at the food, my mom had already started walking away.  I followed her and within a few feet of walking she started to spasm uncontrollably and started flailing her limbs in every direction.  When I asked her what the hell was wrong with her she said she stole the guy's mushrooms and ate it.  She was having a majorly bad trip.  Then Gary came out of no where and I forgot why but we started arguing.  It escalated and we started swinging.  I remember getting a few good licks in but I was completely overwhelmed and dominated by his strength (which is how I'd imagine a real fight with Gary would be).  Then, as the fight ended, I started to walk away but Gary came up behind me and hugged me from behind and said "Gary Wu laab you..."  It was weird.  Next thing I know I'm trying to stop an altercation between two of my friends, both named Frances.  Some other weird stuff happened and I went to meet up Andy.  We walked around the streets and he asked if I wanted to go watch him in an eating competition.   It was a competition at Subway where the eaters must eat a one foot open face sandwich (I have no idea why) as fast as possible.  I told him I couldn't go since I had to prepare for the GRE exam (which is really true).  Then I woke up.

Sharks win.  Boring game.  Clowe fought some jackass near the end of third which was pretty good.  Vesce had his first NHL goal.  Overall sloppy play though.  Congratulations San Jose but your next matchup will probably be your most difficult of the season thus far.
